Speaking of Pirates and the Sea, people ask me how this middle-aged wife, mother and now grandmother who used to be a software engineer at IBM became so obsessed with adventurous, romantic, sea-faring stories. I grew up on the beaches of Florida snorkeling, body surfing and building sand castles. It was there I fell in love with the sea. There's something so majestic, so powerful, so very beautiful about the ocean, it reminds me of God.! His faithfulness is trustworthy and steady like the tide. His power and strength are like the massive waves. His beauty is beyond description, and yet, He is full of life and life-giving water! And even though I moved away, went to college, got married and ended up in California, the warm seas never left me. I dreamt of great adventures upon the waters and often wrote stories in my head. Until one day, I heard the Lord distinctly tell me to write a novel about a Christian Pirate. Of course I thought I was hearing things. I had never written a novel before, but I decided what did I have to lose? Now 18 years and 30 novels later, I'm still writing about my two loves, Jesus and the Sea.
